This Privacy Policy explains how Yoober (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the website at https://yoober.yaa.bz and the Yoober desktop application. Yoober is designed to be privacy-first: there are no Yoober accounts and no Yoober backend that collects your data.

Summary

  • The desktop app runs on your own machine. Downloads are saved locally.
  • We do not operate Yoober servers that receive your videos, transcripts, or account data.
  • Optional OpenAI Whisper API transcription only happens if you choose that backend and provide your own API key.

The website

The marketing site is a static informational page hosted on Cloudflare. We do not run first-party analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking cookies in the site itself.

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard request data such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL as part of delivering and securing the site. That processing is governed by Cloudflare’s own policies.

The desktop app

Yoober is a free, open-source desktop app. It downloads media through yt-dlp on your device and can optionally transcribe audio with OpenAI Whisper.

  • Downloads. Network requests go from your machine to the video site (and related CDNs). Files are written to the output folder you choose. Nothing is uploaded to Yoober.
  • Local transcription. If you use the local Whisper backend, processing stays on your machine.
  • OpenAI API transcription. If you opt into the OpenAI API backend, audio is sent to OpenAI according to their terms and privacy policy. Your API key is stored in your operating system keychain via Electron safeStorage (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or libsecret on Linux). It is not written to disk in plaintext by Yoober.
  • Local settings and history. App preferences and download history are stored locally on your device.

Third parties

Depending on how you use Yoober, the following third parties may process data:

  • Video platforms (for example YouTube and other sites supported by yt-dlp) when you fetch or download content.
  • OpenAI, only if you enable API-based transcription and supply an API key.
  • GitHub, when you visit the repository or download release builds.
  • PayPal, if you use the optional donate link.
  • Cloudflare, for hosting and delivering this website.

We do not control those services. Their privacy practices apply when you use them.

Children

Yoober is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site or app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
